The fourth annual Darkside Case Competition was won by BBA students Lucas Byrne, Andrew Grant, Katherine Johnston, David Langley, and Sam Vautour. Their team offered insightful analysis of the behaviour of four RCMP officers in the tazering death of Robert Dziekanski at the Vancouver International Airport in 2007. Cases from the "darkside" of business include workers in poorly managed organizations, increasingly difficult environment for union organizing rights, and examples of how the broader system of business permits organizations to do questionable things. The competition was organized by Dr. Jim Grant and Dr. Kelly Dye. Professors Martha Cheney, Jenipher Chitate, and Dr. Conor Vibert were competition judges.
