Enactus Acadia represents in Utrecht, Netherlands
by Kennie, Nathan
Enactus students Kirsten Lawrence (President) and Alex Dulay (Vice President) had an incredible and insightful two-week trip to the Netherlands this October.
Enactus Acadia is a student-led organization that is dedicated to creating positive social and environmental impact through entrepreneurial action.
Kirsten and Alex attended two conferences, both on the topic of social impact and entrepreneurship. At the Social Enterprise World Forum in Amsterdam, they were joined by over 1,000 delegates from around the world, in a 2-day event full of conversations about people and planet, circular economy, rural social enterprise, and working within planetary boundaries.
“I learned so much from all the speakers and had so many valuable conversations with people doing incredible things in the world of social enterprise and entrepreneurship around the world.” - Kirsten
As leaders of the Enactus team at Acadia, Alex and Kirsten received invitations to the annual Enactus World Cup, this year in Utrecht, Netherlands. They attended with the Canadian delegation, in support of the Canadian National Champion, Wilfred Laurier University, which placed in the Final Four of the competition.
“I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with students from different countries, all sharing a common goal: creating a positive impact. Meeting these like-minded changemakers was incredibly inspiring and has fueled my determination to make a lasting difference in the world. “- Alex
Teams from 33 countries attended, and the conference was full of opportunities for networking with student leaders around the globe, and opportunities to learn about all the student led projects creating impact in their own communities.
After this experience Alex shared that her perspective was reshaped and had this to be shared with their Enactus team “Never underestimate your capacity to make a difference. Regardless of how small you may perceive yourself to be, you have the power to contribute and be part of a transformative force that can shape a better world."
“Coming back from these conferences we are extremely inspired, and so grateful to the business school for supporting us in making this trip possible. We hope to take everything we’ve learned and apply it to our team’s projects to create positive change in our community. We will keep working hard so that one day we can represent Canada on a global stage!”, Kirsten added.
