The F.C. Manning School of Business Administration hosted the second annual Shaw Group Case Competition on October 31-November 1. Six teams of second year students at the F.C. Manning School of Business competed in this prestigious event. They were given 24 hours to analyze a complex Canadian business case, and then present realistic solutions to a judging panel of four business leaders. Judges were asked to assess the teams’; executive summary, analysis of the current situation, evaluation of reasonable alternatives, recommended action plan, and overall impression. First place and $1000 dollars went to the team members of Bankers Who Lost Interest, Jacob Moore, Meg Keevill, Ted Higa, and Brandon Shute. Distinguishing their presentation was its insightful analysis and passionately delivered arguments. Shaw Group executives will host a luncheon for the team. Case competitions provide students with collaborative learning opportunities, networking, and exposure to real world business challenges. The Fred C. Manning School of Business acknowledges the generous support of The Shaw Group in funding this popular competition.
