Bio

Kendra Carmichael (MA, University of Maine, Orono) is a lecturer in the fields of personal and professional speech communication. She currently teaches Business Communication (COMM1213) and Public Speaking (COMM1223).

Her areas of interest reflect the content of the coursework; she is drawn to study aspects of verbal communication, specifically the influence of language choice on perception and message reception, as well as how nonverbal cues are used in mediated environments to complete or compliment the communication.

Research Interests

Her interests are varied and remain grounded in both personal and professional communication fields. Areas of exploration include the influence of language and the power of word choice, the semantics of business communication, semiotics, and nonverbal cues in mediated environments.
