Dr. Shelley MacDougall is a professor of finance in the F.C. Manning School of Business Administration at Acadia. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, she earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University, an MBA from Dalhousie, and a Ph. D. from Bradford University, in Bradford, England. She co-owned and operated a business, EEP Engineered and Environmental Products Inc. She joined the Acadia faculty in 1987.
Dr. MacDougall’s area of research is in strategic capital investments and investment in new technology. She is a founding member of the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute and is presently conducting research on the development of tidal energy in the Bay of Fundy. She was co-project lead and editor of The Community and Business Toolkit for Tidal Energy Development, author of 2 modules: “Financial Evaluation and Cost of Energy;” “Financing, Government Supports and Managing Risk;” and co-author of “Opportunities and Strategies for Businesses.”
Dr. MacDougall has published other research in OMEGA International Journal of Management Science, the Journal of Enterprising Communities: People and Places in the Global Economy, the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Financial Education, the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management, and the Journal of Intellectual Capital.
