Awarded annually to an exceptional third or fourth year BBA student who has acquired an aptitude for, and developed a keen interest in finance.
Awarded annually to an entering or returning BBA student on recommendation of the Director. This scholarship is made possible through a bequest from the late Florence M. Bishop (B.A. Acadia ’34) of Hantsport, Nova Scotia.
($725) Provided by Mr. Ferguson (Acadia, 1946). Awarded annually to a Nova Scotian entering the third or fourth year of the BBA program on the recommendation of the Director. Given on evidence of financial need; recipient must not be receiving another bursary, scholarship or prize in that year exceeding $250. Candidate should demonstrate good academic ability and possess those qualities of sound character and initiative which indicate potential leadership in the business world.
Awarded annually for study in the Manning School to a resident of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada for a period of ten years or more. Award may be made for study in any year and could be renewed at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
Awarded annually to BBA students who have been residents of the Atlantic provinces for a minimum of ten years. Awarded on the basis of academic performance with preference given for demonstrated financial need. Renewable at the discretion of the Scholarships, Prizes and Awards Committee. Made possible though a gift from Sheldon (BA, Acadia, ’39, DCL, Acadia, ’99) and Marjorie Fountain (DCT, Acadia ’99) of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Awarded annually to the highest standing Nova Scotia resident in the Core Program. Given in recognition of the leadership of Walter Isenor as Dean/Director of the School of Business (1982-’88). Provided by C. L. Viger Ltd. and Chops Viger, Canadian Tire Ltd., New Minas.
Awarded annually in memory of Dr. Harvey E. Crowell to an accounting major who has completed the junior year with an average of at least 85 percent in accounting, and continues the study of accounting in the senior year. Preference given to students looking forward to a career in public accounting.
Provided by MacDonald Chisholm Incorporated and awarded annually to the student with the highest academic standing in year one who proceeds to year two.
($600) Awarded annually to a BBA student in the penultimate year on nomination of the Director to the scholarship committee. The student must have outstanding leadership qualities and high academic ability. Established by the Board of Governors in memory of Norman Moore who served the University most ably as Vice-President for Development for more than a decade.
($5000) Awarded annually to a final year BBA honours student. May be made available in the summer prior to the final honours year for thesis research purposes. Provided from the Estate of Dr. Steeves and his family. Dr. Steeves served on Acadia's Board of Governors from 1963 to 1985 when he was appointed an Honourary Governor. In 1986 he received the degree of Doctor of Civil Law, honoris causa.
Awarded annually to students from the South Sudan region of Africa demonstrating superior ability and good qualities of leadership & character, and entering or returning to a degree program at Manning. Preference given to the “lost boys of Sudan.” Selection based on financial need. Applicants are must provide a resume outlining extracurricular activities, leadership qualities and community involvement.
Awarded annually to an exceptional student completing the third or fourth year of the BBA. Preference will be given to students completing the BBA with Computer Science. Paul Tom was a respected member of the Manning faculty from 1983 to 1993.
